March 2023

By Amy Cartledge

The Favola Five is back! Welcome to the March edition of Favola Five, where we bring you the top social innovations of the month. This month, we have an exciting mix of features that are sure to keep you engaged and entertained. So, let’s dive right in.

Generative AI is taking over

We can’t talk about social innovation without mentioning the latest trend in tech – generative AI. This technology is allowing creators to automate and enhance their content creation process, resulting in some truly amazing and unique outputs. From generating art and music to creating whole new virtual worlds, generative AI is set to revolutionise the creative industry. For example, Musico, a new AI powered software engine, blends traditional and modern machine learning algorithms to generate endless streams of copyright-free music in a wide variety of styles.

Things just got Reely interesting

Instagram is testing full-length Reels replays within Stories, which means you can now share your Reels with your followers in a whole new way. With this feature, you can give your followers a sneak peek of your latest Reel and encourage them to watch the full video.

Need a reminder?

This next feature on IG is a game-changer. Instagram has added reminder ads and promoted results in search, which allows businesses to reach their target audience in a more targeted and effective way. With reminder ads, businesses can remind their followers to take a specific action, such as buying a product or signing up for a service. Promoted results in search, on the other hand, allow businesses to show up at the top of search results for specific keyword.

You have one unread message from Meta

Meta is making its Click-to-Messenger Ads available within Facebook Reels. This means businesses can now drive direct DM contact via Reels clips, making it easier for them to connect with their audience and increase engagement.

When life gives you lemons

As the TikTok ban looms over the social media world, ByteDance-owned Lemon8 has emerged as a potential backup plan for avid users. Lemon8 is an Instagram rival that has recently hit the US App Store’s Top charts. With its unique features and user-friendly interface, Lemon8 is quickly becoming a go-to platform for those looking for a TikTok alternative. The app offers a range of filters and effects that allow users to create engaging and entertaining content. As the TikTok ban draws closer, Lemon8’s rising popularity could mark a new era in the world of social media. According to app data provider Apptopia, Lemon8 has been downloaded about 16 million times worldwide since its launch, with 38 percent of total downloads coming from Japan. Apptopia estimated that the app has over 4.25 million monthly active users in the US

So, between our own personal digital assistant, Meta making it a lot easier to slide into customers DM’s and a brand new app that could be the online world’s next fixation, March has been a busy month. We can’t wait to see what April brings (*insert evil laugh here). Stay tuned to see what crazy innovations are coming our way.
