Instagram boss Adam Mosseri reached out to his followers by posting a lengthy video explaining the changes coming to the app. Mosseri insists that whilst video content is on the rise, static feed posts will remain part of Instagram’s charm… but some aren’t convinced. With the likes of Kylie Jenner sharing bemusement to the new updates and over 300,000 signatures on a Change.org petiton to ‘make instagram instagram again’, could this be the beginning of the end for the once beloved photo sharing app? We Reely hope not.
META
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced that his company will be doubling the amount of AI-recommended content within feeds of consumers. He states that ‘social feeds are going from being driven primarily by the people to increasingly being driven by AI recommending content that you’ll find interesting from across Facebook and Instagram.’ It won’t be news to anyone that Meta likes to ‘borrow’ successful parts of its competitor platforms, but with over 30% of Facebook and Instagram feeds becoming targeted AI content, we cant help but think they are entirely trying to replicate TikTok’s ‘For You Page’… and quite simply… that is not ‘for us’.
A few months back we learned Tesla owner Elon Musk was buying Twitter for $44BN. After flirting with the idea of starting his own social media platform, he decided to use his fortunes to avoid all the hard work and ‘improve’ the app we already have, vowing to make the app thrive off free speech by loosening the platform guidelines.
However, after a lot of back-and-forth, Musk has pulled out of the deal, leading to him being sued by a Twitter investor. With Elon Musk tweeting to his 100M+ followers “They want to force me to buy Twitter in court”, It all seems a bit up in the air.
